Public meetings November 16-20 to Provide Update on Proposed Greenland Aluminium and Hydroelectric Development Project
Public meetings will be held in Nuuk, Maniitsoq, Sisimiut, and Kangerlussuaq in November to enable Greenland Development and Alcoa to report on their progress towards the establishment of a world class aluminium smelter in Greenland and to seek questions and comments on the proposed Project from anyone with an interest in this project.
ERM, the consultancy that is preparing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed project, along with their study partners, will present the preliminary results of the baseline EIA studies and outline the next steps in the EIA process. The presentation materials for the meetings will be available on this website and on www.alcoa.com/greenland/en/news/releases.asp and www.erm.com/alcoagreenland.
The meeting in Maniitsoq will be broadcasted directly through KNR Radio in cooperation with Akisuasoq (the local radio in Maniitsoq).
The agenda for the meetings includes:
- Update on project-related studies and activities from Greenland Development, Alcoa, the Municipalities, and ERM.
- Question and answer session for project- and EIA-related comments and questions.
- Open house session with information tables for each study topic. Study experts will be available at each table to answer questions.
