Indirect environmental impacts
A part of the impacts from a project like the aluminum project are not directly from the smelter or the hydroelectric power plants. There might be impacts relating to the social changes that come from the project.
An enlargement of Maniitsoq will affect traffic, consuming and general behavior which might again impact the culture and economy of the local area. To have a better understanding of the possible indirect effects of the project - both positive and negative - the use of natural resources, life standards and cultural change are assessed. The health of the population is also included as part of these assessments.

There will be set up limits for the emissions from the aluminum smelter, which the smelter must comply with. Already there are international minimum demands and limits. If the local limits are stricter these will be the existing limits. This subject you can find among other in the section concerning Standards for the EIA.
